200 Hour Teacher Training
The Brooklyn Flow Teacher Training with Shaktiyoga NY is a comprehensive 200 Hour Yoga Alliance® Registered Level 1 Teacher Training led by Julie Dohrman (ERYT-500), with supporting faculty: Jason Orrell, Lara Kohn Thompson, Tracey Balzano and Nitya Gessel.
Our training is designed for enthusiastic students of yoga who desire a more committed practice, higher understanding of the yoga pathway and want to learn the tools of great Align + Flow yoga classes to serve as a teacher.
The complete 200 Hour program includes a progressive immersion into the primary elements of yoga including asana, pranayama, meditation, history and varied philosophies of the yoga tradition. Julie and the Brooklyn Flow faculty will mentor you with the utmost care to build your confidence as an emerging teacher. You'll have the opportunity to observe, assist and take classes at Brooklyn Flow for the duration of the training to help deepen your practice and gain knowledge.
Once completed, you will be able to register with the Yoga Alliance for your RYT-200 certification.
Weekend modules will offer techniques to:
Create effective, intelligent, and empowering classes that connect to yoga's higher purpose
Teach most general classroom levels, including the raw beginner.
Create spaces that are trauma aware and rooted in social justice
Apply your understanding of anatomy, optimal biomechanics, and functional movement to teach responsive alignment
Design sequences that safely progress students through a purposeful experience in their body using supportive props where appropriate
Lead pranayama, meditation, and subtle body practices
Give clear verbal cues and exceptional, consent-based hands-on adjustments
Support prenatal and postpartum yoga students
Use restorative and trauma-informed yoga skills to effectively work with the body’s physiological and emotional responses
PREREQUISITES:
Minimum 18 months - 2 years regular yoga practice required. No prior teaching experience necessary, nor do you have to be “flexible”, injury-free, or super athletic. Please be ready to commit fully to the group time together, and to your own growth!

2025 TRAINING SCHEDULE:
Saturdays + Sundays 1:00-8:00pm
February 1-2 | February 15-16 | March 1-2 | March 15-16 | March 29-30 | April 5-6 | April 26-27 | May 3-4 | May 17-18 | May 31- June 1 | June 14-15 | June 21-22
Requirements: 12 weekends of in-person instruction; 6 mentor sessions; 10 hours of observing and assisting classes; 2-4 hours of at-home reading and study per week; increased yoga practice (required classes).

COST: $3700 A non-refundable deposit of $500 must be submitted at the time of your application. The deposit will go towards your tuition. (Deposit will be transferred to studio credit if cancelled by January 1, 2025) Please submit your deposit here.
Tuition includes electronic training manuals and the option to sign up for a $125 unlimited class membership at Brooklyn Flow for the duration of the Teacher Training program. Books and other supplies are not included.
