200 Hour Teacher Training

The Brooklyn Flow Teacher Training with Shaktiyoga NY is a comprehensive 200 Hour Yoga Alliance® Registered Level 1 Teacher Training. Led by Julie Dohrman with supporting Brooklyn Flow Teachers, our training is designed for enthusiastic students of yoga who desire a more committed practice, higher understanding of the yoga pathway and want to learn the tools of great Align + Flow yoga classes to serve as a teacher.

Shaktiyoga New York 200 hour Teacher Training will guide you to:

  • Transition from student into the seat of the teacher, finding your sense of leadership and expressive voice.

  • Learn the value of yoga traditions, study primary texts, and explore philosophical concepts.

  • Create effective, intelligent, and empowering classes that uplift and connect to yoga’s higher purpose.

  • Teach systematically with breath, precise alignment technique, and energy flow.

  • Become more knowledgeable in anatomy and bio-mechanics of the body.

  • Design sequences that safely progress students through a purposeful experience.

  • Connect to the subtle body through pranayama, meditation, and Restorative yoga.

  • Give clear verbal instructions and exceptional consent-based hands-on adjustments.

  • Create community and sacred space.

  • Training will include segments on Inclusion + Social Justice, Teaching Beginners, Prenatal Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and more.

Once completed, you will be able to register with the Yoga Alliance for your RYT-200 certification.

WHO IT'S FOR: This training is designed for enthusiastic students of yoga who desire a stronger committed practice, higher understanding of their practice, deeper integration of yoga as way of life, as well as those who want to learn the tools of great alignment based yoga classes and serve as a teacher.

Julie’s signature classes are a powerful and balanced blend of alignment and flow – with thoughtful themes woven into intelligent sequencing and clear instruction for a fully embodied practice.

WHAT IS IN THIS TRAINING? The complete 200-hour program includes a deep and progressive immersion into the primary elements of yoga for accelerated practice. This includes the fundamentals of asana, pranayama, meditation, anatomy, bio-mechanics, the subtle body, yoga history and philosophy, plus a deep dive into the foundational text, The Yoga Sutras. Also included are 8 hours of mentoring, observations, consent based hands-on assists, assisting classes, and an opportunity to teach regular classes at Brooklyn Flow in the weekly Blooming Teachers class. To support your growth and increased practice, you will be offered a discounted monthly unlimited membership at Brooklyn Flow for the duration of the training.

PREQUISITES: Minimum 2+ years regular practice. No prior teaching experience necessary, nor do you have to be “flexible”, injury free, or super athletic. Required is that you are an avid, enthusiastic student with a dedicated practice, have a desire to learn and grow from an 6 month course of study, and are ready to commit fully to the group time together. The knowledge you will gain through the experience will yield strength, flexibility, and healing on all levels, and you will up level from wherever you start.

2026 Weekend Dates: Plan on attending every weekend. However one full weekend (or the equivalent) is allowed for absence

TUITION

$3700. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required at the time of applying, which will go towards your tuition. (Studio credit if cancelled by January 1, 2026)

Tuition includes: Teacher Training manuals in digital format. Plus, the option to sign up for a $125 unlimited class monthly membership at Brooklyn Flow for the duration of the program. Books and other supplies are not included.

Scholarships: A limited number of partial scholarships are available for individuals from communities that are under represented in prevailing US yoga studios. Email hello@brooklynflow.com to request an application. Scholarships will be granted no later than January 1, 2026.
